Jason and Krista are Married!

Where to start? Well, I have too many photos that I want to post. Jason and Krista are such a lovely (and picture perfect) couple. They were married this Saturday at the Heritage Hall in Vancouver. Krista was one of the last brides of the season, but the first to be completely ready before we arrived. Instead of doing the standard getting ready photos she opted to spend the time doing some bridal images in the hotel lobby instead (500 Plaza Hotel). What a treat!

They lucked out with a beautiful sunny day. It had been raining the day before and day after their wedding! The heavens were certainly smiling on them.

Family Shoot Take One

This little guy belongs to friends Jeff and Michelle. Last week I stole a few moments with Jaxson for a mini photo-shoot (or should I say 'photo-chase,' as I literally had to run, roll and hurdle fences to keep up with him, while he explored the world around him). Aside from a few grass stains and lot of laughs, we got some shots. Unfortunately dad was out of town, so stay tuned for Take Two, when we resume the 'Family Shoot' with all three of them. Here's a little glimpse of Jax and mom.

The Not-Engagement Shoot

Meet Jayna and Cory. You don't need to be engaged to have a couple shoot! This fun loving couple just celebrated Cory's birthday. Jayna had lots of surprises for Cory, including hiring a photographer to hang back and grab some shots of them on the town. I always aim to capture the vibe of my clients; sexy was the vibe here...Judy

Southlands Wedding

Ayesha and James tie the knot in backyard ceremony in Southlands, Vancouver, BC.
Following the intimate ceremony, guests joined the bride and groom in celebration at the plush Lumiere Restaurant. It was such a pleasure to photograph your occasion! Wishing you much joy and happiness...Judy

Mother and Son

The bond was evident between Kim and her one year old (soon to be two), son Connor as I tailed them one afternoon in an early fall photo shoot in south Surrey...Judy

Beautiful Backlight

Fall Colours in Stanley Park

Jen and Ian are Married!

It was a beautiful Autumn wedding for Jen and Ian last weekend. They both got ready at the Hilton in Richmond, so we were able to capture pics of each of them. The ceremony was at Minoru Chapel (one of my favourite places as I was married there!). We did photos at the Chapel and then at beautiful Garry Point Park in Steveston.

What a great day! Congratulations Jen & Ian!

Events

The H2H Event held recently in Vancouver was a huge success! Major salon owners came together with a purpose to raise funds for the Children's Wish Foundation. The venue was lively and festive at Vancouver's Pop Opera. Throughout the evening top stylists competed for speed and originality. The following images are a glimpse of the talent....Judy

Although martinis were flowing...

the spectacle of the show was definately not martini-induced as you'll see next.

Planet Neil Lighting Workshop in Seattle

A couple of weeks ago Judy and I travelled to Seattle to participate in an awesome lighting workshop by lighting guru Neil van Niekerk. Neil is a teacher, mentor and superb wedding photographer from NJ. I highly recommend this workshop to any photographer needing to light well while on location in fast paced environments (like weddings!).

The first night at the hotel we met a bell hop (who is an aspiring photographer) that just happened to be toting the same camera as me. He was getting off work and offered to show us around town to get some cool seattle night pictures.

Can you believe this was lit with on camera flash? There is a BIG difference between direct flash (BAD) and flash used to produce directional light (either on or off camera).
If you see us shooting with something low tech like this on our flash... trust us we know what we're doing... honest. :) The photo above was shot using this set up.
I saw some guests whispering about it a couple weddings ago during the reception. I think they thought we had our flashes on backwards! LOL

We also got to experiment with video lights. Hmmm might need to add this to our arsenal in the future.
And here's Judy holding the video light for the shot below.
